Jasminum
sambac
(Arabian Jasmine)
Arabian Jasmine is an evergreen shrub native to India. The flowers are used
in making perfumes and as a flavoring in tea. Blooms all year long with warm
temperatures. Flowers are ¾ to 1 inch across and are powerfully fragrant.
This makes a superb low maintenance houseplant reaching 5' in pots or easily
pruned to any height.
Hardy zones 9-10.
Recommended care:
Full sun or partial shade. Water regularly for optimum growth. They grow
best in a peaty, well-drained soil. From spring through fall, fertilize monthly
with a balanced fertilizer such as 10-10-10. Keep the soil evenly moist through
the growing season. Prune after flowering to keep the plants thinned and
shaped. Flowers are produced on new wood. |
